Job Title:U-Mass Medical School Seeks Part-Time Faculty Member for Student Counseling Service
Job Description:The University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS) seeks to fill a half-time (20 hours/week) Faculty position on its Student Counseling Service. The Service provides evidence-based assessment, psychotherapy, and medication management to students of UMMS, including medical students, graduate students, and nursing students. This student population is ethnically and socioeconomically diverse, with a wide range of therapeutic needs. Student Counseling Service is a team of Board-certified psychiatrists and clinical and health psychologists with specialty training, who work together in a team model and meet weekly for case conference. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D./Psy.D., specialized training and experience in evidence-based psychotherapy models such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and be licensed or eligible for licensure as a psychologist in Massachusetts. Experience with psychosocial treatment for alcohol and substance use disorders, and/or for eating disorders, is of interest but not required. Clinical psychologists with significant experience in these treatment models, and who are prepared to supervise trainees, are preferred. In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate ability to contribute to the academic mission of UMMS.


There may be opportunities within the Department of Psychiatry to add clinical or research hours in various settings, depending on applicant’s expertise and interests, and availability of funding.
